seeing our self through technology Chapter 3

Summary: Rettberg started off the chapter with social media genres are cumulative and serial. She explains that exploring into ones post, tweets or blogs can assist us to understand the individual better. In this chapter Rettberg talked about the couple of visual self-representation genres, some of which she mentions are time-lapse selfie video, profile pictures, and photo booths. She talked about time-lapse selfie through couple of people, two of which are Ahree Lee and Noah Kalina. She said that both of them has done a similar thing which is taking a time-lapse video of them self for a couple of years and posting it on YouTube. She said that inside of Noah video people can slowy recognize that as the time goes on he became more sad or less smile. Rettberg started off the next section with profile picture. On page 20, she talks about how a person profile picture is the true identity of that person. last part of the chapter talks about the photo booth she said that photo is the close to reality because there is time for you to set up what you want to do it is all automatic it will take the picture rather you are ready or not.

Analysis/commentary
Some of the point in this chapter is facts and some are opinion. One of the things that Rettberg said was a person profile picture is the true identity of them self, I think that this is very opinionated sometimes people will spent hour to think of something that they think is super cool or what they want to be and set that as a profile picture rather than what they are. there are also some points that she made that I think there isn’t a comeback for like photo booths there isn’t time for someone to set up a certain way to act, maybe the first picture but after that you will revile your self because the booth is set to automatic where it will take your picture no matter what.
